The Wolves
The Wolves is a one-act play by Sarah DeLappe that follows a suburban girls’ indoor soccer team as they warm up before weekly games. Over six consecutive Saturdays, the nine teenage players—identified only by their jersey numbers—stretch, gossip, argue, and bond, revealing their personalities, insecurities, and ambitions. Through their conversations, the play explores themes of adolescence, identity, competition, and the pressures of growing up, while also highlighting the dynamics of female friendship and team unity. What begins as casual chatter about school, politics, and relationships gradually deepens into moments of vulnerability and conflict, culminating in a tragedy that forces the team to confront loss and reaffirm their connection to one another
